Camp Okuti - General

Camp Okuti was recently rebuilt and offers accommodation for a maximum of 18 guests. Besides the fact that Okuti is only one of a few lodges within the borders of the Moremi Game Reserve in Botswana, the unique architecture and seclution of Camp Okuti makes this a “must visit” destination in the Okavango Delta.

Camp Okuti takes the style of a typical African village and guests are accommodated in tents under rounded bee-hive type thatched structures. The main lounge and dining area are in similar style and are decorated in contemporary Botswana safari style. Large, old trees provide shade and attract a myriad of bird species typical to this part of the Okavango Delta in Botswana. The sleeping tents are linked to the main area by wooden walkways.

The Location

FoCamp Okuti in the Okavango Delta is one of the places in Botswana that you will want to visit again and again. The setting is breathtakingly beautiful: the tranquil Maunachira river flowing past the doorstep of your tent amid the peace and silence of the Moremi Game Reserve.

Accommodation

Each tent at Camp Okuti is spacious and luxurious with en suite bathroom and private viewing deck. Camp Okuti is one of a few establishments in the Okavango Delta that are child-friendly – they provide two family units, in addition to the five twin-bedded units. The outdoor showers are something a city-dweller will not forget very easily. At Camp Okuti, electricity is generated to operate lighting and basic facilities (hairdryers cannot be operated with the camp’s supply – why not let your hair down?).

Camp Okuti has a plunge-pool where the deck meets the Xakanaxa Lagoon, and an open-air boma for dinners around the campfire. Okuti also has a lounge, full bar facilities, gift shop and library.

ACTIVITIES

TCamp Okuti in the Moremi Nature Reserve in the Okavango Delta is a nature lover’s dream come true. The area offers superb opportunities for photography and birdwatching (excursions to the Gadikwe Heronry in season are very popular). Camp Okuti has custom-designed vehicles for game drives – the bucket seats are very comfortable and ensure that you will enjoy spotting the elephant, wild dog, leopard, lion, buffalo, giraffe and other game this area is renowned for. You can also opt for a boat excursion into the Okavango Delta to explore the waterways and lagoons. Guests can also self-drive in the Moremi Game Reserve, but this must be arranged with Okuti Camp.
