Santawani Lodge in Botswana’s Okavango Delta is in a league of its own. First established by Jon Panos of Gametrackers, Santawani is well-known in the Okavango Delta in Botswana. One frequently hears about lodges being operated “in conjunction” with local communities. More often than not the community’s land is leased to private operators, with very little benefits actually getting to the community. Sanawanti Lodge in the Ngamiland District on the Okavango Delta of Botswana is a notable exception. Santawani is both owned and managed by the local community, for the benefit of the local community. Santawani Lodge is set in a community-owned concession bordering on the well-known Moremi Game Reserve. This part of Botswana is filled with an abundance of wildlife, so it’s ideal safari country. Get ready to view plenty of leopard, hyena, lion, cheetah and other smaller predators. Santawani Lodge offers day and night game drives and safaris, accompanied by skilled guides who know the area like the back of their hand. Only twelve guests can be accommodated at a time, in six twin-bedded brick and thatch chalets. All are en suite, with ceiling fans and have recently been refurbished with new décor and linen. The main complex at the Santawani Lodge in the Okavango Delta accommodates the dining room, lounge, a bar area looking out on a waterhole, as well as a “fire pit” for the chats around the campfire about the day’s safari activities. Besides the excellent value for money offered by Santawani Lodge in The Okavango Delta, the warmth and friendliness of the staff make Santawani a top establishment in Botswana. All staff members come from the Sankuyo community – native to the area and passionate about their home. Santawani Lodge in the Okavango Delta of Botswana is operated to the highest standards of minimising ecological impact. |
