Xakanaxa Camp - General

The Xakanaxa Camp overlooks the Khwai river and Xakanaxa Lagoon. Unlike other destinations in the Okavango Delta of Botswana, the unique setting of the Xakanaxa Camp in the Moremi Game Reserve ensures that there is enough water during the entire year. This ensures that you will have a true Okavango Delta safari, no matter at what time of year you plan to visit the Xakanaxa Camp.

The thatched main buildings at Xakanaxa Camp are constructed from local timber and overlooks the Khwai river. The open-air lounge, with its inviting couches, has a well-stocked library. The sun deck, with a sparkling splash pool, invites you to cool down or to laze in the shade of the huge jackalberry tree. Enjoy a siesta on the day bed in the sala. At night, a fire is made on the fire deck, where you can listen to the sounds of nature.

The cuisine at the Xakanaxa Camp is something to write home about. Expert chefs prepare traditional safari dishes, with a Pan African twist. The wine list boasts the best of South African wines. Usually the guests at the Xakanaxa Camp in the Okavango Delta eat together in the dining room, but arrangements can be made if you want to dine on your own.

At night, no electricity is used – only candles, battery-powered lamps and paraffin lamps. This adds to the original safari ambience at Xakanaxa Camp in the Okavango Delta.
