Sharwimbo River Camp - General

Sharwimbo River Camp lies on a high bank overlooking the magnificent Kwando River. A getaway for any traveller who wants to spend some quiet time in a beautiful natural setting. This delightful camp with its well-appointed self-catering chalets and camping facilities is an ideal place to explore an exceptional area. There are 2 swimming pools at Sharwimbo camp: one for the chalet guests and one for the campers. With two game parks on your doorstep, mysterious floodplains, a wide variety of birdlife, boat trips and game drives there is more than enough to make your stay memorable. Sharwimbo is truly a hidden gem.

The Location

Sharwimbo River Camp is situated on the Kwando River 25 km south of Kongola. You do not need a 4x4 vehicle to access the camp.

 

Accommodation

The en-suite self-catering chalets are ideal for a couple, but can accommodate children on request. The chalets have twin beds, mosquito nets, 12V solar lighting, hot water, and a fully equipped kitchen area with gas stove. Each chalet has a wooden deck overlooking the Kwando River where you can sit back and relax with a drink while you watch the sun go down. Sharwimbo is self-catering and you will need to take all your own supplies and drinks.

The campsites are spacious with central ablution facilities. There is 220V power at the office where you are welcome to charge your phone or other equipment.

 

 

Activities

A visit to the Kwando area is not complete without a boat trip on the waterways. Sharwimbo Camp has safe aluminium boats, and the experienced guides will take you to see the rich birdlife, hippos, crocodiles, and other game along the riverbanks.

The two National Game Parks, Mudumu and Bwabwata have a rich diversity of wildlife and a game drive is not to be missed. Both National Park require 4x4 vehicles. You can do a self-drive trip or ask the expert guides at Sharwimbo to assist you in one of their game-viewing vehicles.
