HENTIE'S BAY & SKELETON COAST

Hentie's Bay or Hentiesbaai as it is known among the locals is situated along the National West Coast Recreation Area and can be reached by the salt road via Swakopmund or the gravel road via the Spitzkoppe. It is a popular angling resort and an excellent base from which to explore the Namib Desert.

Hentie's Bay lies on the edge of the dunes looking down onto a pristine beach stretching for kilometres to the North and the South. The dunes and delicate lichen plains offer stunning scenes for photographers and nature lovers.

The Skeleton Coast extends from Cape Cross northwards to the Kunene River and the Angolan border. The countless skeletons of ships, whales and men along its shores gave rise to this evocative name.

Visits to Cape Cross where a huge colony of Cape Fur Seals breed is often a highlight for guests. This entire coastline is renowned for its excellent fishing.
