Mlibizi Lodge

The Mlibizi Lodge in Zimbabwe is a haven for any fisherman and the ideal place to spend a family holiday. The brochure of the Mlibizi Lodge says that you won’t easily find a better place to do simply nothing!

The Cikwazi Restaurant at the Mlibizi Lodge in Zimbabwe normally offers a set menu, but will prepare a braai or buffet for a minimum of 25 guests. All tables overlook the lake, and the restaurant is proud of its reputation. The staff of the Mashasha Bar at the Mlibizi Lodge in Zimbabwe pride themselves on being able to mix any cocktail – so put them to the test!

Additional facilities at the Mlibizi Lodge in Zimbabwe include a laundry service, babysitting, swimming pool and curio shop. Although they have a conference room, you have to bring along all electronic equipment.

 

The Location

The Mlibizi Lodge is on the banks of Lake Kariba in Zimbabwe, on the road from Bulawayo to the Victoria Falls. The Hwange National Park is 180km from the Mlibizi Lodge, while the Victoria Falls is 250 km from the Mlibizi Lodge.

 

Accommodation

A total of 50 guests can be accommodated at the Mlibizi Lodge in Zimbabwe in a variety of accommodation options. There are six thatched bungalows, all overlooking Lake Kariba. All are en suite and can sleep 4 adults. There are five thatched bungalows in the gardens of the Mlibizi Lodge in Zimbabwe, all en suite, and can sleep two adults. There are 2 flats in the garden of the Mlibizi Lodge on Lake Kariba, both with 2 separate bathrooms, and both able to house 4 adults and 3 children. Five thatched lodges in the garden of Mlibizi Lodge can accommodate 2 adults and 2 children, with en suite bathroom and veranda. Finally, there is one self-catering (self-contained) villa in the garden of the Mlibizi Lodge in Zimbabwe, where 12 to 15 adults can be accommodated. The villa is spacious with 2 bathrooms, separate toilets, a very large living room, fully equipped kitchen and stone-built braai area.

Although the accommodation at Mlibizi Lodge on Lake Kariba, Zimbabwe, is mosquito-proof, guests are advised to take malaria prophylactics and bring along their mosquito repellents. Guests must also remember to bring their 220V adapters (as well as binoculars and camera.)

 

 

Activities

Life at the Mlibizi Lodge in Zimbabwe revolves around Lake Kariba, so the main activities are fishing and game viewing. A number of cruises are offered by the Mlibizi Lodge, including early morning, day and evening bird watching trips, as well as half-day and full day fishing expeditions. The full day trip includes a braai on board. The Mlibizi Lodge in Zimbabwe also offers a croc watching expedition on Lake Kariba – this trip is done by spotlight and leaves soon after dinner.

Guests can visit the nearby Saba hot springs, as well as Tonga villages offering crafts and art.
