Spurwing Island Lodge on Lake Kariba in Zimbabwe is the perfect place if you want a holiday of family, rest and relaxation. However, serious game viewers and fishermen visiting the Kariba area in Zimbabwe also enjoy staying at the Spurwing Island Lodge.

At Spurwing Island, guests are offered a variety of accommodation, all overlooking Lake Kariba and the nearby Matusadona National Park. A maximum of 40 adults can be accommodated, however, if you want to bring along more friends and family to Spurwing Island, it can be arranged.
There are 11 tents, all with two zip entrances. The one entrance leads onto a small veranda, where you can simply sit and gaze at the beautiful surroundings. The other zip entrance leads to an en-suite bathroom. All tents at Spurwing Island are equipped with twin beds, a dressing table, fan, mosquito nets and 220V AC plug sockets. Two of the tents can be changed into a double tent to accommodate a family.
Spurwing Island also offers six stone cabins, with thatched roof and veranda. All are en-suite, and equipped with twin beds, cupboards, dressing table, fan, mosquito nets and 220V AC plug socket. Extra beds can be provided for children.
Three chalets provide further accommodation at Spurwing Island. All are stone under thatch, en-suite with separate shower and equipped with twin beds, cupboards, dressing table, ceiling fan, mosquito nets and 220V AC plug sockets. The chalets have French doors onto the veranda.
Spurwing Island forms part of the Matusadona National Park and therefore offers many excellent opportunities to view game such as cheetah, lion, leopard, elephant, hippo, buffalo, crocs, many antelope and more than 400 bird species. Visitors to Spurwing Island can do game viewing in the Matusadona National Park by guided boat, safari vehicle or walking expeditions. A speed boat safari to the Sanyati Gorge will allow you to see the Matusadona Mountains from another very dramatic angle.
Fishing is one of the main activities at Spurwing Island and you can hire tackle from the Lodge. An experienced coxswain will help you to find the perfect spot to land that bream or tiger fish. The Spurwing Island Lodge’s chefs will prepare your catch, or if you want to show off your catch at home, you can freeze the fish.
Spurwing Island offers a swimming pool, curio shop, tennis court, TV on the central terrace, pool table, playground, dart board, laundry service and bar. Security is provided by means of an electric fence.
